The turn-key DHYBRID system that was installed in Mauritius within a period of eight weeks has a total capacity of 1.2 MW and will supply 1,800 MWh of electricity annually. This means that a total of 500,000 litres of diesel fuel can be saved every year. The hybrid system consists 4,700 PV modules, 70 inverters, an energy storage system, and the UPP (Universal Power Platform) controll system.
The shopping centre uses 100% of the self-generated electricity and does not feed any into the grid. Excess solar power is stored using special cooling tanks, chillers and a centralized air conditioning system. At night, the energy stored as ice is used for air condition in the mall and to cool foods. This leads to a ground breaking energy efficiency and overall system performance. The backup diesel generators and the energy storage system ensure the autonomy of the shopping centre even at full load and the DHYBRID UPP takes the lead to control and manage all different energy sources.
